Counselling Service

Help with the issues that life throws at you

At The Abbey Clinic we aim to provide a combination of person centred counselling and cognitive behaviour therapy in a private and confidential setting. With a counsellor's support, you can explore your feelings and ultimately gain a better understanding of your current situation and life choices.

Counselling is a way of enabling choice or change, or of reducing confusion. It does not involve giving advice or directing a client to take a particular course of action, but focuses on empowering the individual by encouraging them to gain insight into their life. With the help and support of a counsellor you can share any topic in a confidential environment.

What counselling offers:

Christine's role is to create a supportive space where you can gain greater insight into your concerns and desires. We support you to find your own answers, and to become aware of which patterns of behaviour may be holding you back. Counselling may be just a few sessions or may continue over several months. This depends on your individual situation. You will not be judged or given advice. Counselling is about helping you to develop insights into your problems and finding your own resources and strengths. It is about helping you to make your own choices and decisions and to take responsibility for your own life.
