Julia Hazelwood

Sports Massage, MLD

16 years experience

Julia Hazelwood is a Soft Tissue Therapist specialising in Myofascial Release Technique (MRT) and Dr. Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD).

Having worked in the Fitness industry for many years, Julia has since taken a particular interest in 'Fascia' and has been on many courses learning applications to help structurally alter this impressive connective tissue.  Having suffered with chronic back problems and finding MFR a huge help in rehabilitation, Julia's goal is to give the client a sense of fluidity and freedom from restriction that may have been present for many years.  Long standing injuries, chronic aches and pains, conditions such as fibromyalgia and autoimmune diseases such as scleroderma can be helped using MFR.

This may involve working away from the symptomatic problem, but since the Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout the body as a 3-dimensional web from head to foot weaknesses can occur anywhere within this system.  Lifestyle, poor posture, deskbound jobs, specific sports are classic examples of how problems can occur, so techniques used will aim to change its architectural properties to help meet the demands put upon it.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a very gentle treatment and is specifically designed to aim at removing any fluid stagnancy that may be present within the tissues.  These specialised gentle pumping techniques have been shown to help a whole host of conditions, such as post operative swelling, ankle swelling, abdominal fluid retention, pregnancy, rheumatoid arthritis, sinusitis to name but a few. By removing this excessive fluid debris in the tissue spaces, MLD coupled with a deep oscillation unit called the Hivamat 200 will accelerate the healing process, as well as calming the nervous system aiding recovery.
