Promoting healing through stimulation of the nerves

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy that involves the application of pressure to the feet, hands or ears using specific thumb, finger and hand techniques.  It is based on the theory that zones of the foot correlate with specific parts of the body.  Work to a certain area of the foot effects a physical change in the body and in doing so helps the body to restore its balance naturally.

What should I expect on my first visit?

A full medical history will be requested on your first treatment, and you will be asked to sign a consent form for treatment. Reflexology is a very easy therapy to receive; the most clothing that will have to be removed for a treatment to take place will be your socks and shoes.  The therapist will use their hands to apply pressure to the feet, lower leg, hands, ears or face, depending on the type of reflexology chosen. You may feel areas of transient discomfort during the treatment, but generally the experience should be relaxing.  The therapist may recommend a course of treatments.

What can Reflexology help to treat?

Reflexology may be effective for many conditions including:

  • Joint pain
  • Breathing disorders
  • Digestive problems
  • Fertility issues
  • Headaches/migraines
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Pain relief
  • Sleep disorders
  • Stress and stress-related conditions

Reflexology can be received by anyone at any age, from newborn babies to the elderly, both men and women.  However, there may occasionally be times when it is not suitable to provide a treatment.

If you are unsure if reflexology is suitable for you, please call the clinic and our reflexologist will be able to answer any of your questions.
